I finally had the time, to work on the Templates for ISV Dialogs again. Meanwhile Microsoft came up with a template for addon webpages as well included in the CRM SDK. The template provided by Microsoft gets you started with a basic look and feel for MS CRM 4.0, but still is missing two points, that I think are very important, especially if you don’t want to put all of your logic in Javascript. I finally managed to include these in the templates:

  • Support for localization
  • Creation of CRM Service and Metadata Service

In order to work correctly, your dialog will have to be registered in ISV.config using PassParams=”1″.

To get it working in Visual Studio, just copy the zip file(s) to your “My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Templates\ProjectTemplates\<language>\CRM” folder.
The templates are working with Visual Studio 2010 as well.

There is an updated version of the templates available. Have a look at the post for reference.

Since I became to lazy to create dialog windows for ISV integration dialogs for MSCRM from scratch every time, I recently created a project template for Visual Studio 2008.  It contains the button background image from the CRM SDK, a master page with essential styles and 5 placeholders (JavaScript, header, subheader, main content and footer content like buttons) and a Default.aspx based on the Master.site with two buttons (OK, Cancel). The template is available for C# and VB.NET.

I think it provides a good point to start your custom CRM dialog development from. However it couls still be improved with some additional styles added (textboxes etc.) and localization (the “cancel” button is labeled in german language), but I think it’s OK for a first version.

To get it working in Visual Studio, just copy the zip file(s) to your “My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Templates\ProjectTemplates\<language>” folder.

Our resource management tool proMX RM is getting more attention. Today we recorded a short webcast together with Joris Kalz from Microsoft to show the abilities of Microsoft Dynamics CRM as Business Application Platform and our product as resource and time management tool.

I think the webcast will be available this week. It will be published on the German Microsoft Partner Blog and on the proMX website.

proMX RM is now installed at four customers and we will release a new version this week. Our new windows client is getting very good feedback from our customers and is a great addition to our outlook like web client.
