Microsoft gave a first insight to the next version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM at the Professional Developer Conference (PDC) 2008 in Los Angeles. The new release is tagged with the codename CRM 5.

Additionally some Webcasts emerged in the last quarter with further information where the story goes.

There are some main achievements planned for the platform. E. g. that partner developed modules and features can be combined in a Solution. This Solution provides all customizations, application logic and other depending data in a simple to install package. It looks like that it is even possible to protect the installed customization from export and so from further use through competitors.

A great interview with the CRM Platform team of Microsoft shows some other great steps in the right direction.
